A View To The Future For eBook Lovers

A recent unscheduled poll shows 12 of the 22 LLP members contacted are reading eBooks on their computer screens (and 7 of those are laptop models). Only 3 have attempted to read a full novel on hand-held devices with small screens.

We didn't make it a formal poll or announce anything in advance. It was fun to just draw names from the kettle and take turns making phone calls. It was a great way to revive and practice a new skill here at the home office, and you can be sure we'll be doing more of it in the future.

During this poll we learned a little more about our membership's reading preferences, and were surprised at the number who fully enjoy both the audio format and the eText format as much as their paperbacks.

There is much to be said about the advantage of portability.

One member admitted she actually printed pages of a suspense novel that she downloaded in eText on her PC, so she could take it to the pool to read at her leisure.

We also had eight requests to hurry up and find a good eBook Reader device, along with complaints about the devices currently on the market. If you've found one you're happy with, send an email to LLoni@LLPublish.com and tell me about it.

Six more members admitted they don't read the electronic versions at all, only the reviews and excerpts. They prefer the paperback for it's price and portability.

Fortunately for us at LLPublish.com Book Club, those last six people are regular users of the Bookstore Direct links for online purchases. (Your purchases made through our advertiser links help defray some of the cost of maintaining this site, and we thank you sincerely.)
