REMEMBER TO MAKE TIME
TO GIVE THANKS FOR ALL THAT IS GOOD IN YOUR LIFE
There are so many who have so little to work with this year. Hurricanes, floods, tsunami, drought, earthquakes, and a frightening war, all have filled our homes month after month in newscasts that go out of their way to prod us to experience the devastation as though we were there.
Seeing it on the news is bad enough. But those who actually WERE there are still suffering more than the rest of us can imagine.
Feeling compassion for the plight of others has come natural to most of us. We see the need and experience the shock, then the sadness, and evenually some of us feel compelled to assist in whatever way we are able. We all care!
But the act of caring requires more than having sad feelings. It requires actually DOING something. It might come as a cash donation, or sharing contents from our closets, or simply wiping away another's tears if that's what we can do.
The point is, we need to DO it. We need to follow through by making time to get it done. That's the kind of "Giving Thanks" we're talking about this month. What many of us forget in our lives so full of busy-ness, is that helping others is a form of "Giving Thanks" for what we have.
So please remember to make time to be truly thankful this holiday season, and Give Thanks where it is needed most, as well as at the holiday dinner table.
