This is an American Civil War history story everyone can appreciate. True to Burke's usual style, White Doves is filled with characters you can't put away and scenery that will never leave your mind. But most of all it is a story that will breathe with you and will sit in the back of your mind long after you've finished reading the book.
James Lee Burk is the kind of favorite author that keeps me turning pages, or in my case popping in the next audio CD, and buying more without even looking to see what the story is about.
I've never been disappointed! whether I'm reading one of the Dave Robicheaux mysteries, or one of the Billy Bob Holland mysteries, and now with the unusually gripping historical piece, the characters are alive in a manner few authors ever achieve.
